Oliver manure spreader

After 16 months of looking I've put my hands on an Oliver Superior manure spreader just 25 miles from home. Literally stumbled onto it at an auction.

It is the older style full wooden box. In pretty good condition although I believe I will replace the side wood, not the floor though. While the paint in mostly gone from the wood all the metal is very distinct.

Going to restore it to maybe parade with our 880 LP.

Where might I find an owners/parts manual and how am I going to get the name painted back on the sides?

Any info/help will be greatly appreciated.

You may try watching for the literature on ebay.com under the oliver search. Once in a while they pop up. The lettering was usually hand painted and can be replaced by a sign painter or someone who does lettering. They weren't very exotic, so the cost shouldn't be too great.

I'm not sure on the Oliver but I have an old New Idea spreader with wood sides and floor and the painted New Idea lettering was done with a stencil. I know because I happen to have the old stencil that was used when it was last repainted.
You might be able to buy a lettering stencil kit of approx. the correct size and use that to get nice lettering on the side.

If it was actual decals here is a fellow you can contact. He might also know where to find the original stencil patterns if they were used.
