Getting ready to tune up my 1951 "88" and would like to know what plugs I should get. What do you use in yours? Mine burns a little oil, so maybe a little hotter plug? It only gets used a couple times a year for plowing. Thanks

Champion D21 or other make in same heat range. This is hotter than the recommended D16. I had an 88 that would foul the D16's but not D21's. The Autolite book I looked in yesterday calls for 386 to replace either one. I am going to try them and see what happens. I have a 60 that pumps oil in #4 and fouls.

I'd stick with the correct heat range given that you use it so little. As far as brand goes, I've used Champion for many years with great success in my 1650. In fact the owner's manual specifies Champion.

Stay away from Champion plugs. Use Autolite 386 and you'll never have problems under any condition.

I use AC-C88 in my olivers. When I had John Deeres , I used the same thing. Never had good luck with Champion , other than lawn mowers and crysler products. I have used autolite plugs in the past , with good results. From what I'm told , auto lite is the plug to use for agricultural. John Deere even uses autolite plugs. The box reads John Deere. When the plug is pulled out of the box , it reads autolite.
