1st time planting

Well, last night was my first time planting corn as I really didn't feel like milking cows when I could be playing on my tractor. Ever since we got our 1755, we have been using that on our 494 A JD planter. I feel I did a pretty good job on the field, and the rows looked pretty straight. I guess I'll find out for sure when I'm cultivating it. Today was the first rain in at least a week, which was a nice break because then we could get into out traditionally wetter fields and plant them or atleast work them once to loosen the soil for faster future drying. It was a good week for us, but I wouldn't min it drying up this weekend so we can get the rest of our corn in on sunday, as saturday is prom night for me. Just gotta keep an eye on the weather and keep my fingers crossed.

P.S. I picked up a new tub for my 1600, It's a 1655 deisel tub, but still the same thing. Now I gotta figure out when I'm gonna make the switch, probly after the feild work is done, for now anyways....

I payed $325 for it at Wisconsin Tractor parts. I go there first for any thing I need for my Oliver parts and most other things. I have also gone to the bone yard in Fond du lac once or twice, got some parts for other implements there. I also saw a 1600 gas they just got in that week, and it already had the carb and seat ripped off, other wise it was complete, with what looked to be the original Firestone's on the rear. tach only read 0947, but I take it to mean 10947. Wonder why it was in there.

Don if you need more oliver parts check out Kraemer Farms. ph #920-526-9915. They are just east of American Imp. on hwy 23 at Fon Du Lac. I just got a block & crank there for my 1750.

Thats the other one I've gone to, but it was for my Ford/ New Idea mow/ditioner. In my area they are extremely rare but they had atleast 10 in stock when my father and I went there. Didn't happen to look around much for Olivers though. I don't think I'll really need/want any more used parts for it, I plan to buy NEW guages for it, and everything else is good shape yet.

Yeah, the weather has been decent in the midwest as of late. We keep going on the corn planting too in SE Minnesota. Glad to hear that you got the tub for the 1600, it will save money in the long run, especially if the breaks like my boss's 2-70's did.
