I have 2 550 diesels that we use for grass cutting. I am a fairly big guy at 6 feet 2 and 250 lbs. I find these seats very uncomfortable. I sit about 5 inches closer to the steering wheel than is comfortable and this puts my legs in a cramped position. Also the seat bottoms out when a bump is hit. Aside from losing some weight does anybody have any ideas or experience with another seat set up or ????? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, BB in Western PA

Bruce, I feel your pain. My S55 w/new seat rubber barely will keep my butt up at 220lbs too. You might try adding a spring or something to the bottom. The seat slides forward and back as well.

I just took a seat off my Super 55 that should work for you. I think it came off of a Ford 8N. Someone welded it to the mount plate for the Oliver seat. I'll take a pic when I get home and e-mail it to you. It was too tall and too far back for my 5'7" frame.

BP is the seat you are talking about the type with a hinge in the front, spring under the pan seat and a shock absorber in the rear? I have one on a 2N and it keeps my 250# shock free.

Jake, Thanks for responding. The seat I have is the Oliver seat with the rubber torsion spring. The seat you have sounds great. Do you know where I could get one ? I have a metal working shop so adapting would not be a problem. BB

Bruce,I'll take a pic and send it to you but it might take a few days[film cam]. I'll make a drawing of it and scan to you. The only problem is mounted to the 2N there is not much room for a foot to fit between the shift lever and front of the seat hinge, but on the Oliver should be fine. Jake

Bruce, I just sent you the pics on the seat. Jake, the seat I have hinges in the back with a large flat spring curling under the seat from the back toward the front and then back toward the rear. It held me up just fine but it sat me too high and too far back for my stubby legs to reach the pedals, much less the steps!
