1950 trans fill/chack pionts

The trans. is different on my 1950 than my 1900. I found two drain plugs, one near the trans oil pump pickup screen and one directly above the draw bar. My 1900 has two fil/check ports on the left side of the trans. I assume the 1950 has a common oil supply, I drained aprox. 11 gal, I tried to fill the trans. through the top of the PTO housing, and checking the level on the bottom plug of the two plugs on the right side of the PTO housing. I can only get about 4 gallons in.
WHERE am I screwing up???

Use the upper plug for checking full level. The bottom plug is the minimum level for stationary PTO use if the front wheels are lower than the rear.

If your 1950 is like my 1650 you fill the transmission/FD & PTO through the fill tube (has a screw cap on it) which is just left of your left foot as you sit in the seat.

If not, maybe a 1950 owner can chime in here. In any case, the operator's manual sold in "Tractor Manuals" at the top left of this page covers the procedure in great detail.

Not sure which plug you have out, but the 1950 fluid capacity is 51 quarts. That is 1 quart less than what you drained out.
