I bought a 552 rough terrain forklift at an auction Saturday and am looking for some info on the old girl. The main thing is what's the tranny shift pattern? Where's the serial# tag located? Any recommended sources for operator and service manuals for these? I bought it for use around the farm and my old sawmill. It's in pretty good shape. The fenders are a little dented but I bought it to use not show. It seems to run really nice and lifts good. I'd be interested in any info anyone has on these units. I think I did pretty good as I only paid $1950.00 for it.

I have spent quite a bit of time driving several of the 552 forklifts. All of them that I have driven, have had shuttle transmissions, a basic four speed with a forward / reverse shuttle lever to the right of the four speed shift lever.

I believe that the 552 is basically a 550 with the bevel gear installed on the left side of the tractor. I am guessing the shift pattern is the same.

If you need manuals check with the Floydd County Historical Society. Click on the link.

Here is a picture of a Super 55 forklift and a 552. The lift was made by K-D Manufacturing Company of Waco, Texas.

Neat old pics. Thats what mine looks like. It does seem to have a 4 speed tranny. It has the half of the pattern without the reverse gears. I used it today pulling some old fence posts. Neat old machine
