I started my 77 and the engine took off racing. Thtottle was as slow as it would go. Could it be that the govenor is broke? If so how do I fix and where do I get a replacment. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

RET It sounds like the govenor is bad and you will have to take the linkage off and the three bolts on the front timing cover that hold it in place off and pull the govenor housing off. You should be able to get a replacement govenor at any Agco White Dealership in your area. When you get one it will probably take some linkage adjustments, the dealership may be able to help you there. Good Luck Shadetree

RET,
When you start working on your govenor, if you run into any trouble, I have the shop manual that covers that tractor. Email me if you have any questions..... ..
