I went to look at a 1600 diesel the other day. The rear tires are about shot and he says the clutch is out. He says the engine runs good and it has an Oliver loader on it. I don't know much about Olivers, so can anyone tell me what things to look out for on the 1600. He says he will take $1500 for the tractor and loader the way it is. The paint isn't very good on it, but the sheet metal looks good and straight.
Thanks for any help,
Andy

I would jump on that ollie! Where's it at? The loader alone could probably bring in atleast that if it's the oliver 1610 (shwarts). New tires could run a couple hundred to almost 1,000, depending if you decide to get a cheaper tire or go with the firestones on the rear. They are slightly older tractors, but still very solid built. They are the predecessor to the 1650 and 1655, which are about the best Oliver's ever made.

The tractor is south of Lafayette, Indiana. I did notice that it didn't have power steering. I wonder how hard to steer that would make it with the loader?
Thanks for the info,
Andy

I would imagine that would make it a little harder, but I think you can add power steering to it, but I don't know how hard it would be if possible to do.

The 1600 clutch has a common problem of breakeing out the center of the disc. When you replace them you should get the new stronger clutch thats offered now.Allso look for the new style hydrostatic power steering.

Sounds like it may be worth it. I would be interested if you don't buy it.
