A friend has a Cockshut 411R (Fiat Diesel) that won't start. Possibly the same engine as in an Oliver 1250. Tractor was running fine but then started to over rev and he shut it down but then it wouldn't start. A diesel mechanic gave it a quick check over but couldn't get it to run. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what might be the problem? Thanks, Al

What for injection pump is on it? Is it a rotary pump or inline with all the fuel lines in a row? If it is an inline pump, it could have a stuck plunger.

I only had a quick look at the tractor but I think it is an inline pump. They did bleed the lines and they seemed to be ok. Thanks. Al.

Assuming that it is an inline pump, a plunger might have started to seize in a barrel in the injection pump. You might have fuel flowing out the lines, but no high pressure, just pressure from the transfer pump. Probably what happened was that the plunger started to seize in a position where more fuel was needed. When it started to run away, you friend was lucky enough to be able to shut it down. Now the pump is stuck in a no fuel postion that spring tension can't overcome because of the plunger starting to seize. Simply put, take it off and have a fuel injection shop check it out.
