I just bought an oliver 1750 special,pressed steel rear wheels,straight shaft no hydra-power,lowerlinks like a deere and the clover white trim is colored pea soup green. This was Olivers answer to the Deere 4000. Just wondering if anyone knows production numbers ect. THANKS

Your "Special" is special- there was a writeup about them, in HPOCA magazine within the past year, I think. Low production numbers, built without some features to lure the very price conscious. No one has been able to figure out why the pea-soup green was cheaper than clover white, however.

It took me awhile but I found that article. It was actually about the super 55 & 550 tractors. It stated the late sixties and said they were listed in the winter 1969 Better Farming magazine. It was talking about the 550 Special and that no one remembered the 550 having a Special version, but there was a picture of one and I have seen a few advertised since then. The first Specials were the 1750 & 1850 models, then later had several more. The 550 had a decal that said "Special". Does the 1750 have a Special decal? The HPOCA magazine was the July/August 2001 issue. WB.

I'm getting to that age where everything since about 1999 seems like is was within the last year. Whoever said you can't compress time just hadn't gotten old yet :>)

Mike- are you serious that Oliver had a total strip down model to go head-to-head with the 4000 deere? I guess thats news to me. I have seen some straight shaft models out there, but maybe theres more to them then I thought. Seems like you learn new things everyday

I dont think theres anything special about this 1750, it just didnt have the hydra-power put into it. 1750's are relatively easy to find. I've seen plenty of them around, although people tend to perfer 1650's and 1850's. But anywho, congrats on your new purchase. Its always fun having a new member in the family;)
