49 66 row crop. Have removed band brakes. A few questions on assembly. Need tork for large center nut and my parts book shows an O-ring seal on that. Mine has none. Is this important? Not on early ones? Need tork on the five seal cover nuts. Need two seals # 1AA-620-A in book. Anyone know replacement numbers that I can use to get at auto stores? Pivot arm seems a little loose on the stud shaft on case. Is this normal or worn out? No bushing shown in parts book and none on my parts. No gasket on brake housing cover? None in parts book, yet looked like ONE of mine had some cork on it. There is molded and woven linings offered, which should I use and why??

Contact Korves brothers at 618-939-6681, they will have everything you need. I just finished replacing the brake bands on my 77. I also had a leaking seal like your talking about, and yes there should be an O-ring , it will not come out on the drum retaining nut, it will stay on the part the nut threads into. Take a flashlight and look closely. There is no gasket on the brake cover either. The trick is in attaching the linings to the bands, but korves's can do this for you also.

Steve, found the seal. Dug it out, broke it once. Is this just an oring? or something else? Seems kinda flat, but may be just worn. I got two o-rings from HW store, don't think they will work as not as big around, and nothing to stretch them over. Would work over shaft if I stretched it I think. What did you use for your 77? Have a size or part number or anything? Where got it? I wrote a note to Korves, they take quite awhile to answer back. Might call them instead. They wanted $40 each band in local brake shop with Braided material. Probly best bet for me. Agco dealer can get seals for $18 each. You have a diff source?

O'brien county imp. at 712-324-4871 in Sheldon Iowa had the seals for 3.57 each and the o-rings were .40 each for my 77. I ordered them over the phone and had them within 2 days. I think the price on the brake linings from Korves on a 66 are around $25 for both sides.

Jeeez! I ordered two today from my local Agco dealer for $18 each and they had the rings in stock, didn't ask the price. They ordered the seals for Wed delivery. Just talked on phone, didn't go there, they are a few miles away. Oh, Well?? On the brakes, Korves shows the linings for about $29.oo each with rivets. They say they will install too, no price listed. I tried to call them, no answer, same on email. Must be closed for some reason?? Looks like local shop's gonna get mine. They will mount them and all. About same price considering shipping/handling and such. I'm wondering how to adjust brakes? Doesn't seem to have any links or such, just the splines on parts. Has a slot in outer end for driver or such too. What's the procedure? I'm assuming I turn the shaft with a screwdriver and mount pedal on splines to position it somehow. Do I close the brake tight or loose?

With the new linings placed on the drums they will fit fairly snug. Align the brake pedal on the spline wiyh the pedal positioned back toward rear of tractor, like it would be positioned normaly, then tap it on to the splined shaft. If splines don't align, gently put vise-grips on splined shaft near tractor and rotate in direction as to make brakes tighter untill brake pedal aligns with next spline.
