Front end weights.

What is the weight of a front end weight that is 21" wide,16"tall,and 2"thick? These are stock Oliver. I would take one off and find out myself but, then I would have to ask the wife to help. you get the picture.

Are you talking the flat weights that hang on the front of the 50-55 series? If I understand correctly, they weigh the same as the stack weights. I think thats around 80-90 pounds. Not sure myself, just know I got one of each on my 1755. Also has a loader on it so I really don't need it, but what the heck, I don't want to take it off. Why do you ask?

These are the type that bolt on from the front. They have pear shaped holes in them so you can loosen the bolts and slip them off or on. The reason I was asking was just couriosity. I use my 1750 for snow blowing. The weights counterbalance's the blower great.

Yep, those are the ones I was thinking of. Pretty sure on the 80-90 lbs. That seems to be about the same weight for just about all makes and models, guess it's just a convenient weight I guess.

Those big flat weights run about 160 lbs. I would suggest you plan ahead before you add or subtract them. They can be a toe crusher and back breaker!

That much? I thought they weighed the same as the stack weights, and I just lifted a few of them a couple weeks ago. They ain't light but dont weigh that much. I was thinking sometime of taking the weights off my 1755, as the loader frame adds more than enough weight already.

My operators book for my 1655 lists those weights as 165 lbs. Eat your wheaties!

They are not really that bad to lift on and off. I don't think they are really 165lbs as the book says, but maybe close to 130lbs. We have them on our 2255 and lift them on and off all the time. They have a nice hole in top for a chain or rope to hook through if needed.

I had to find out for sure, so I weighed a flat front weight, part number 157309A. It weighed 165 pounds. As a check, I also calculated the weight. Take 16 X 21 X 2 X .26 (the weight of a cubic inch of cast iron) equals 174 pounds. Take out a few pounds for the rounded corners and the holes and 165 is about right.

My back would believe that... I have taken a few on and off and have learned to have someone help me when I start doing that.

I have the 2150 in the shop now doing some work on it and I counted 7 of those big weights on the front of her. I kind of like this type of weight system, it seems the 7th weight on the tractor does a lot more good than the first in that it is further out in front and will put more down force on the front axle. Just my thought.

Try taking the grille off by hand. It's 250 lbs. I can still do it but it's not getting any easier!

I've done that, and it was quite heavy. Didn't think it was any 250 lbs, but I must not know my own strength. Think i'll use my loader (maybe, real jerky hydr.) to put it back on after it's painted and ready to go. just got my funding approved so now I can build my credit and my 1600 at the same time.

Oh no, I dont even attempt a grill anymore, I use the forklift or a loader every time. I pulled my back pretty bad one time trying to let a grill down easy off a 1655 and Im not trying that again. I rarly move those 165 pound weights by myself anymore either, its not worth it.

I'm still young enough to do some of these things, but I still want to lift it some other way, but the hydraulics on my 1755 are too shaky and just can't be eased. Sometimes I just roll the bucket to do this, but somtimes that don't work either. Right now I got the grill sitting down on a wooden pallet, waiting for something to happen with it.

If you have it in the shop use an engine hoist to lift those heavy weights. Works great.

I don't have an engine hoist, I used a rental to pull my engine out, and the only way I would rent it again is when I set my engine back in, and that would be the soonest I could set the grill on again anyway.
