1650 Power Steering

Give me some suggestions as to why the power steering would be stiff on a 1650 with a new hydraulic pump. What should I check? I have never owned an oliver before, just bought it. Good, tractor and has had a bunch of work very recently done to it, would like to make it turn easier though. Thanks.

I suspect that the flow divider is not doing it's job. It is located on the left hand side of the hydraulic housing, has a steel line going down under the platform to supply fluid to the steering control unit. It should send 2 GPM of fluid through the steering unit, then to the cooler in front of rad. Max pressure should be 1700.
To check, run the tractor at medium throttle and attempt to steer. While turning the wheel, pull one of the remote hydraulic levers and hold. If steering improves, flow divider is the problem, the valve in flow divider is stuck open. Take it apart and free the valve. Put the valve in a drill and turn in some fine polishing compound.
