Does a 77 diesel use a different engine side panels than a 77 Gas?

77 diesels had side panels with the square boxes like the ones on my tractor. There on Both sides for injecton pump clearence and also the regulator on the 12 volt generator. Normal side panels will not fit with out modifications. I was lucky and have the original panels for the tractor in near perfict condition. 88 diesels were wider and did not need the box and had panels like the gas.

both LH & RH of the side panels on the 77 diesel had the buldge on them. The part number is the same for the 77 & 66 diesel tractors.

i thought just the pump side had the bulge for clearance..why did both have them..i have 2 sets of these and only one side has the bulge and other is regular..came off of the tractors that way

I believe the left side engine panel has a bulge on it for the diesel pump to have clearence.

I think there is an article in one of the HPOCA newsletters on how to modify a gas to make a diesel.
