thanx for the info on the engine guys. My 1650 gas
cockshutt runs good but goes through plugs fast. i realy don't think the engine froze, but there is oil in my rad and antifreeze in my motor oil. the oil is not from the hydroshift cooler because it is so black, i think it may be head gasket (hoping it is anyway) Also is it possible to remove the sleeves without pulling the engine. I,m glad this site is avalable to talk to you guys. Thanx!

I would remove your oil pan and pressurize your radiator/cooling system. I don't know if you have access to a pressure tester or not but this would be the easiest. Normally once pressurized to about 20psi you should be able to see water running somewhere. If you leave pressure on it long enough your problem will show. If it doesn't, turn the engine over some. If water runs down the outside of the liner you got O-ring problems. If it runs down the inside, you might have a blown head gasket or a hole in a liner so everytime their is a compression stroke it puts some compression in the radiator. This would give you an exchange of fluids too. This would probably be what your problem is. If you didn't run it too much you can do an inframe overhaul without any problems, unless your crank needs turned, or block needs machined. If you have a blown head gskt, make sure you liner height is according to specs, or you will blow another head gasket. Good luck.

I just noticed the oil exchange so i think i can save the engine (bearings ect.)

I have had this problem before with the Waukesha engines. Most likely it is the O-rings in the sleeves that have gone bad and is allowing the exchange of fluids. Sence you have compression in the water system you might get lucky and have a bad head gasket but I would still pull the sleeves and replace the O-rings while you are there.

An exchange of coolant/oil results from compression driving oil into the water jacket, when you turn the engine off the cooling system pressure drives coolant back into the combustion chamber and hence the crankcase.

It could be a warped head which tore the head gasket, could be a cracked head or block. The exact cause has to be found. In any case, coolant eats bearings so the engine has to come out. If the head is warped, it has to be resurfaced and a new gasket and bolts installed. If the head and/or block is cracked (machine shop may use Magnaflux to test) you'll have to discuss with them the chances of a successful repair.
