1650 PTO Stays engaged?? Wont Disengage!!!

I have a 1650 Oliver that the PTO will NOT disengage...does anybody have any suggestions as to what to check or look for? Thanks so much!

Brian,
The most probable cause for that PTO to not disengage is from warped discs, usually because it got smoked. Pull the shield, remove the PTO cover. In the spider there are two holes where you must remove an internal snap ring. You need a good snap ring pliers for this job. You can now pull the spider and the live shaft out all the way from the engine drive hub. There is an external snap ring to remove and the entire "Twin Disc" clutch assembly will come out. Take out three pins and then remove the nut. There is a button you need to push in to spin it. Note how many discs you have and the order they belong on the hub. None of the discs should be warped more than 0.005". I have installed lots of used discs if they are not warped or chewed up too badly. You may need some new ones if used are not availble. Its not real cheap to buy all new. It's not too tough of a job to fix up the PTO on these. Good Luck

In the 1850 you need to remove the PTO housing from the tractor. The live shaft needs to come out first. Amazingly, the PTO discs are the same size.
