Two of the three 1850's that I own have 11l-16 tires on the front. However, they are implement and not tri-rib tires. I looked for an 11L-16 tractor front, but they are not made. Did this tractor have 11.00-16 tires on it from the factory? I am thinking that the 10-16 rims are original. I thought the 11.00-16 tires would really make it too high in front. Please give me some input? :)

Thanks in advance.

Mine has 1100 X 16 on it. It does make it set tall in the front. I really don't even notice it while on the tractor. Here's a pic.

Do the tires run close to the steering arms? I'm wondering if I might have to move them in. Are the steering arms meant to go in and out, or do they only go on one way? I guess this is my biggest concern of all.

I have no clearance problems with the tires. I'm not sure if the 1100X16 size was original on this one, but that is the size it had when I bought it. My rims are deep dish. I think that's why I have no clearance problems. The steering arms are 90 degrees to the axle. Someone else will have to answer about moving the arms in and out. I haven't had mine apart, yet.

I saw several new tractors (most notably Deeres and Olivers) in the late '60s equipped with 11L-16 tires. I don't know the reason for it, but I sure didn't like the looks of them. I had a 4020 with 11L-16 implement tires, and after a year of slippin'& slidin' around corners, I switched to 10.00-16 4-rib front tractor tires.

klf,
My operator's manual does show the 11.00-16 as an optional tire for the 1850. For an 11.00-16 tire, you would need a 10 inch rim. Look for an 11.00-16 tire instead of the 11L-16. My Firestone sales book shows them available in 3 and 4 ribs. What tire size do you have on the rear? You would need an 18.4-38 if you put these on the front of a row crop tractor and wanted it to sit close to level. A 11.00-16 tire would be approx. 38 1/2 inches tall. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Good Luck.

Yes, they are 10" rims. The back tires are 18.4-34. Will 11.00-16 tires look alright on it?

klf,
I have 11L-15 4 rib/18-4.34 on mine and it sits level. They are 31 inches tall. Your 11L-16 implement tires should also be about 31 inches tall, this does vary from brand to brand. You'd definately be driving uphill with 11.00-16 on the front!

I'm sure they are the original rims, so was the 11.00-16 tire the original size????? ??

klf,
There is an 1850 in the oliver photo gallery that looks to have 11.00-16 on the fronts. That will give you an idea what yours will look like.
