Jerry is way ahead of me--but I'll tell you what I can--a picture would be a BIG help.
When you say narrow tracks I'm not sure what you are referring to, the track pad (grouser) or the gauge. The gauge is the distance between the tracks, center to center. With that dimension we can get a start.
The location of the serial number plate depends on the model. If it is a late HG or OC it will be on the right hand side of the bell housing--but many of them are gone. The OC-3 was four cylinder, the OC-4 three cylinder--confused yet? ;)

What I would suggest is that you go to www.cletrac.org and look at the pictures. Once you have some idea of what it is post over there in the forum section or come back here. If it is an OC-3 or HG the differences are very slight. The most notable being the front idlers on the OC were solid and the HGs were cast with holes in them--except for late HGs which had the OC idler---now that ought to really confuse you! ;)

If you can send a picture to me I will try to give you an idea of what you have---also if you can find the serial number then it can be identified as well.

I'll confuse things a little more here. Don't forget that the OC-4 was also available with a four cylinder engine as well as the three cylinder.
