I am trying to convert the loader on my 1650 to a power beyond hook up. I removed the half inch plug just to the left of the filter housing but I can't see any place to screw in a three-eighth inch plug, there are no threads visible. Do I have the wrong plug or what. This tractor is equipped with hydra-lectric if that matters.

You probably removed the wrong plug. Just keep taking plugs out til you find it- the 3/8 pipe thread port inside is pretty easy to see. Just be careful when removing plugs (in any hydraulic system) - hang onto the plug when you make the last turn- it may have a spring and check ball behind it, that will go flying into the brush if you don't remove it carefully.
