Whats a kit run to overhaul a 1655 diesel. Found a real nice one for sale, but the owner says it has 8000 hours on it. person he bought it from says it has never been apart. Starts and runs good without alot of smoke, but it has a little oil on outside of ex manifold. Tractor has dual remotes, 3 point, and 95%rear 18.4/34 long bar short bars, wide front, great sheetmetal with front weights. I can buy for 3500.00 what do you think

I recently sold one with complete overhaul for $5000, and it had new tires. You should count on spending atleast $3000 to overhaul that engine correctly. With those hours, I'd guess it will need more than your basic job!

Howard Enterprises sell good engine kit cheap. They list an out of frame overhaul kit including bearings, liners, pistons, rings, complete gasket set and oil seals for $750. There are lots of the 283 Waukesha engine out there. You could have a good tractor for less than $5000. The 1655 is a extremely handy tractor especially witg a narrow front. We are about lost without ours. It works good for backing wagons around to unload silage as well as hauling the wagons down the road. I would get the injection nozzles checked and a valve job done when you get it apart. Make sure the head is flat as well as the block. Get the new one piece rod bushings from Agco also. I would also check the engine now to see how all the cylinders are firing. Just start it up cold and feel the exhaust manifold at each cylinder and compare temps.

That's a real good price. I bought one out of PA 3 years ago for $4000 that was smoking real bad--spun a rod bearing before I got it home. Got a rebuilt from Valu-Built (WWW.valu-built.com)

The parts store here at YT offers a few parts for the 1655. I'm sure Harvey has a rebuild kit for the 1655, I think he just doesn't have it listed online yet. Anyway, you might want to call Harvey or Jeff at 360-344-4221 and get a kit price. They have good prices on their other kits.

Meanwhile, here's a link to the other 1655 parts that are in the online catalog. A lot more are available, just not entered into the database yet.
