I recently bought a oliver crawler, but i dont know what it is. it has a hercules ixb3 motor 4 cyl. I figure it is a oc3 or a hg3. Havent found tag dont even know where it should be. Any information will help thanks Barry

Just wanted to say thanks for the info i found the tag it is a hg42 my book say's it is a 1948. so, what color should it be im hoping green and not yellow. just like green better thank you barry

If your tractor shows traces of green paint, it would be a HG. The OC-3 was yellow. Also, the front track idler on the HG has holes cut out in the middle, and the OC-3 is a solid disc idler.

Barry, if you don't find a tag on the bell housing look on the right side of the engine---you probably did that since you know the engine model. From the serial number you can get the date of the engine. The tractor tag is also on the right side of the bell housing.

Lots of them have lost their tags along the way.
The HG became an OC in 1951 but there really wasn't much of a change when it happened other than the decals.

Buy the time they made the change official all the "OC improvements" had been made to the HG--even the standard color had gone to green.
