I just brought home my 1850 2 wd diesel (Perkins) which last dyno was around 95 hp. The next piece I am looking for is a plow. What type and how big can I look for without working it too hard? I don't have much land to till and I want to make sure the repair was a good one before I work it too hard? It was transmission work and the engine seems strong and tight. I am also thinking about a cab or ROPS setup for it. I read the previous thread about similar tractors and will contact the sellers. How do I know what cabs will fit without many modifications, or are they mostly universal?

I've had 6-14's behind my 1850 diesel. Ollie was pulling this plow in 4th and low range (about 4 1/2 mph) The plow that I normally pulled was 4-16's and could pull that one in 4th and high range about 7mph. The chisel plow that I used was a 3 pt. hitch 7 shank and that was in 4th and high range. I never tried a trailer type chisel but I think I may have had some traction problems with that. You got yourself a pretty darn good workhorse and you should not have much trouble with it. Those Perkins engines are very good and economical.

there are a lot of 4 16 oliver plows here in michigan at fair prices

This is just a thought, but I would say just leave it open station. Its a classic look. Otherwise there are alot of old year-around or hiniker cabs around that were on Olivers. For a plow, I'd say look for something like a good late model Oliver to match it. 4-16's should pull good.
