Just went and looked at at tractor a guy was restoring and in the middle of it he passed away. Could not fine a tag on any thing around the shop. His wife had a little note book that he keep great detailed notes on the tractor,but of course we ccouldn't find it but in the notebook we did find said a 1944 ser# 400170 she said that they went to Calf. to get this tractor that is was used on a airport and that only 84 were made. Help can sonmeone please tell more about this tractor. I'm new to the Oliver board but I always get great infro from the YT's boards. Thanks SheldonMT

70 industrials are an odd lot and I don't think the serial numbers are the last word on the total number produced. I have a unstyled 70 industrial with a 5 inch narrower stance than a standard and and belly and frame castings from 1937. The engine in this tractor is a 3 gear that has a weird head and several odd features. Also there is no place on the tranny casting to mount a belt pulley. I live about 40 miles from the Continental plant and the old timers say that this tractor was at that plant for as long as they could remember. The engine was never drilled for a serial number tag. So Who Knows what it is. John

The serial numbers for the 1944 Oliver 70 Industrial, otherwise known as the Oliver "25" airport tractor begin at 1400097 and end with 400181. 1936 was the first model year with only 2 made. 1948 was the last year, although none were produced for the 1937 year. Until 1944, the highest number made in any proceeding year were 19. If I read this Data book correctly, the tractor you are refering to would be # 150. For some reason 1940 ended with 400021 and 1941 began with 400028, leaving 6 numbers unaccounted for.
