can someone tell me if a oliver 88 motor will bolt up to a row crop 77 without any major problems thankyou

Just drop in a 310 Wauskeha if rules permit. It will bolt right in. All waukesha engines used in Olivers will interchange. IF you want you could put a 1955 turbocharged engine in that 77 if you wanted to. We have an Super 88 diesel with about 140 Hp without a turbo. It also has the factory torque in it. We pull it from 4,500 up to 14,000lbs class already but usually about 11,000 max. We only pull pace in the heavier classes for obvious reasons. For clarical reasons, the 77 frame is a little shorter than an 88 frame. You will notice the difference in the hood. I think the width is the same. We had that same 310 in a Super 77 at one point, but we kept breaking hubs, axles, bull gears, and finally the ring gear. The Super 88's haave larger axles than a regular 88 and the same is true for the 77's. The PTO will fit in also in either combination. Again, the PTO shaft in the 77's are shorter than an 88 whick takes place for the frame difference.

have also put in 1800gas engine in a 77.bolts right in the 77 frame .some modification though.

Can be done. Many years ago my Dad bought a new super 88. He had the dealer replace the engine with a new super 99 engine. The engine out of the super 88 was then shoehorned into our old fleetline 77. Had lots of power, but the the industrial clutch was abit weak. The fan was replaced with a 6 blade unit, but would still get hot on warm days and heavy loads.

I have read on here or somewhere that they won't bolt directly up because the bolt patern on the 88 is about an inch or so longer than the 77 but have never measured it myself. Seems like the 88 is a little wider too but again, I have never measured it.

Seems like I remember hearing somewhere (probably here) that the 88 motor is a little longer than the 77, resulting in fan interferance with the radiator. But maybe that was the problem with putting a 3208 Cat in a Farmall Cub- my memory just isn't what it used to be.

Looks like I stand corrected. Heck I have a few 77's and know where an 88 motor is. Humm getting more and more ideas for a puller already:)

watch your rules for your clubs, when you start winning , you'll now have an outlaw tractor with a reputation, use caution. they will change your rules once you win alot.
