John we have used the 1950s since they were new the 3pt lift was always slow to go down on them even with mounted implements on. It takes getting use to because they are as responsive as the 55 series& the Whites.Good luck Terry Clubb

I forgot the most important thing. The link that connects the valve and draft and position control can be installed upside down, and will cause slow lowering. It was so common that oliver sent out a service bulition on it.Its very easy to do wrong if you don't have a picture right infront of you.

If you only disconnect the one pin to the valve then its not your fault.I have seen people disconnect all three pins so they can slide things apart easyer, then you may get it put back wrong.

Its under the top cover of the hydrolic unit and is connected to the spool inside. Its easy to find because it has 3 pins in it and connects position and draft control linkage and the valve. The hard part is figureing if its in correctly or not. When i worked on mine that had the linkage broken off I had to draw a diagram from the dealer service manuel to get it back correctly. The old meckanic made sure he told me the correct way this one piece went in.He said this is the piece everyone gets in up side down and their 3 point goes down real slow.

There is not a speed adjuster like the newer tractors have. The spool valve is under the top cover of the hydrolic unit. The lowering spool may not be opening all the way.I had a piece of grit stop one from moveing one time.Remove the seat and top cover and unbolt the valve, lots of orings seal it on the bottem. Then clean valve and make sure all the spools move fee.The other thing could be broken or miss adjusted draft control linkage.
