Would a 1550 diesel handle a 4x5 round baler? Most of our land is flat. I am hoping to find a wf in fair to good condition.

An oliver 1550 should definately be able to handle a 4 by 5 baler . I have a 1555 , which is basically the same tractor , which I have used to run a friend's Vermeer 5 by 6 baler (bales are 5 feet wide and 6 feet tall) . Only time we had a problem was going up a long hill with almost a full bale . That tended to bog the tractor down some and require shifting the hydradrive down . You should not have a problem with flat land and only a 4 by 5 baler since your bales are going to weigh substantially less than the 5 by 6 bales .

Leo we have used a 1550 since new it will definatly handle larger bales than yours 4-5 we just put on extra front weights mine is also nf only problems is front end chocking up in mud other than so a wide front would help that problem. I know were a wide front is available call or email 502 222 9055 good luck Terry Clubb

Yeah, a 1550 should be able to handle that with ease. Our 1650 gas will do a good job baling with a 6x6 baler when we need it to, and our land has some rolls to it.
