Back in the middle to late eighties i went to farm auction in southern iowa . They sold a 1950 that had been converted to a 6v53. The hydropower had been replaced with a shaft, and the tractor appeared to have converted over with ease. Also on the sale was a checkerboard 1800 that had a 4cylinder detroit in it with the large frame typical of one with 453.I assume it had also been converted but do not know . Just wondered if anyone else had seen a conversion of this type?

I have an 1800 checkerboard standard with the original Oliver engine in it, and it has the wide frame like a 1900 would have. Just from looking at it I think it has the same frame, so a 4-53 Detroit should bolt right in there. If the motor goes, I think I could almost fit a 6-53 or 6-71 in there. Without hydrapower it almost looks like it could be a weekend job!

Aug there was one in ky that was a 6v53 still had hydrapower only thing changed was air cleaners and right of tub frame was notched for starter. I have seen 3 that i rember one was around the Houston Tx. area the other ia at Welters farm equipment in Veronia Mo. it did not have hydrapower it had a cab also. I seen once that had a 4-71 in it rough job though. I still have 2 1950s and a1900c been wanting to try a 8v53 in one think that it will fit better than the 6v53 because or the length is close to the same. Terry Clubb La Grange Ky.
