I could soon have a 1950-T motor for sale with a bad crankshaft. Can anyone tell me what would be a fair price to ask? It has one spun rod bearing. The crankshaft will need to be built up. No holes in the block or any internal damage. It ran good until the knock started. I live in Iowa. Thanks.

Don't know if this will help but I purchased my 1950-T tractor in Iowa 2 years ago with a spun #1 rod bearing (no holes in block). That's the tractor with all sheet metal and associated parts and engine in approximately the same condition as you listed yours with a crankshaft that also had a damaged front keyway. I bought the entire unit for $1500. I would say the motor itself may be worth $1000 with the crankshaft needing attention. Other expensive things like the turbo and pump, while they worked fine up until the knock appeared, are in a condition that is anyone's guess and won't command premium price as you take your chances with used parts, particularly at that age. Just out of curiosity, you wouldn't be dropping a Cummins in this T, would you (hope you're not listening, Shep:). I too live in Iowa and may be able to build that 310 to last for you if interested. Good luck.

In my neighborhood that whole tractor with a bad motor would only be worth 1000 to 1200 tops! With a bad crankshaft that motor is not worth much, maybe 750 complete motor.
