WHAT WHOULD I USE WHEN PUTTING MY O RINGS IN MY SLEEVE'S FOR A LUBRICANT. I HAVE HEARD OF CRISCO, BUT AM NOT SURE. I ALSO HAVE HEARD USE NOTHING WITH PETROLEUM BASE. THANKS FOR THE HELP

I used dish soap when putting a 66 together last summer.Make sure the block surfaces are very clean

I always use parker oring lube when I have it, dishwashing liquid works fine as well. On my 283D, I used 3 oring liners from Arrow, I used Viton orings from my local bearing supply. I don't like the way buna holds up (hardens easily). Waukesha always had o-ring problems. Mainly in their 817 and 1197 series, and VHP series. I have replaced them with Viton and not had anymore problems. I really can't say I've seen too many problems in the VRD or VRG model engines except for counter bores being eaten up. If it's mine, I usually machine them and install inserts like I did on my 283D, however I have a few poorboy outfits that will not spend the money and we clean them up and devcon the pits, sand them down true, and it holds up pretty well also.

Crisco is ok or use liquid soap
