i also have a wide front end 66..the oliver book shows a 66 with front end under it however the one shown is like the ones under a 77 with the rubber and big nut..the one under my tractor is like the 60 and has a nose thet extends forward and down..smooth casting with axle under it..would assume perhaps that if the 66 was ordered for loader duty that it would recieve the 77 style axles ..the one under mine would not hold up to much punishement without breaking the cast im sure was a gentleman in ny a while back advertising a cpl for sale around the $450.00 range on the oliver classifieds..shipping for me was the biggest concern so i left them there for someone else..lol

Perhaps it was not common, however, a factory wide adjustable front axle was available from the factory through 660. Two different types of steering gears were used. Not same as 77 or 88 front axle.

I picked up a 66 wide front this fall, they are out there. There is picture of one in "tractor Photos" on this site submitted by Eric Severence, has a JD, Oliver 66 and Oliver 60 in the same photo.

Thanks for the recognition Jake. I was just about to reply, and say that I had a 1954 66 factory wide front tractor, when I saw your post. Ryan, I have other pictures of it here on file if you would like me to e-mail you a couple. This tractor also has a factory three point hitch. It has been real handy to have around. Even starts good in this miserable cold we are having. To back up BA and Jake, and to help answer Ryan's question. Yes they were available, and they are out there.
