Oliver 1850 blade and bucket

I am new to farming, and bought an Oliver 1850 to use on about 50 acres of alfalfa. I want to move some dirt around and have asked numerous persons about adding a blade and a shovel. I have been told the tractor is not big enough, or to add to the rear, not the front. Can anyone help me?

How much dirt and how far are you moving it? An 1850 is not made to be a bull dozer. Loaders aren't too good for moving lots of dirt, but you can do it. A loader would work fine if you were working on the yard around a new house or the foundation of a building, you just have to take your time. There have been lots of 1850s with loaders on them over the years. Just don't buy a lightweight one. Westendorf is a good brand.

Try a pull behind earth mover. Get one the right size and you can move a mountain.

I think the one we borrow is about 6-7 ft. wide. Maybe holds about 2 yards or so. It's made by case, but there are many other brands out there, just shop around.
