I just purchased a 55 Super and would like some help with color codes and age spec # is 15-0065 and the serial # is 31126-518. If I undertand the spec # tells me it is a 1955. If I can read the serial # chart correctly. At the moment the grille is a yellow the same as the gauges and the green is a flat green including the wheels which I would have thought should be red yet in 1955 if this is the proper year. Looks like the PTO clutch is either shot or needs some adjustment as no resistance to put in the engaged position. Also see a clothes pin on the choke rod to hold partialy engaged probably a little carb cleaning before we try to even start. Any help would be greatly appreciated and also has 12.4X 28 rear tires and 6.50 X 16 one front and the other a car tire. Is this the right size of original rubber for this year of tractor.
Thanks Paul form Ontario

My 1955 55 has 12.4 x 28 power adjust rims, the outside and wheel weights were repainted green but the back is the original red w/silver rims. The PTO adjustment is easy to get to, remove the plate cover and turn the large notched ring clockwise facing the rear end.

The year is correct. It is a 1955. You can get the colour codes at the Hart Parr Oliver homepage at the link below. The wheels could be green originally. I have a 1955 diesel that has original green paint. I think some guys said the gas tractors had red wheels in 55, but some guys say they painted the wheels red 'cause they liked the red wheels. I got a tip from Chris at the Old Oliver Gang. He bought his paint from AGCO. You can get it in spray cans for touch up as well as gallons. Let me know if you need any more info. I bought the shop manuals. I don't have a lot of experience, but I can look up things for you or scan and email info.

Thanks for the info and the time I really appreciate the effort.I started to dismantle today and find I need the seals for the brake shaft the seal for the pto and seals for the rockshaft a kit for a carter carb and new bushings for the front spindles. Engine also will need some work 90# compression in two cylinders and 75# in the other two looks like a ring and valve job before I will even try to start also need one cap for radius rod as one is completely worn through.
Oh well have 16 other tractors and have done alot of similar repair to some of them so best just get at it.
Thanks again for the help from all and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Canada.
Paul from Ontario.

Paul, make sure and check the pinion shafts on those brakes. Look for a groove where the seal was riding. I did my shafts and the axles, replaced the seals and bearings, and put speedy sleeves on the grooves worn on the shafts. I filled them with JB Weld first, sanded them flush before putting on the speeding sleeves. I'd be surprised if the rear axles didn't need the same treatment.

Enjoy your Christmas 3 hours before us on the wet coast.

That was no typo, it should be raining here on Christmas, but I am heading up country. It won't be raining there. Last year the aurora borialus (er,, Northern Lights) were spectacular and there is suppose to be more solar flares this year.
