I found a cheap 2-155 FWD for sale and was wondering a few things. I would like to run around 200 Hp out of it how well does the 478 herc live. Is the rear end in under it the same as the 2-180 or is it a little lighter? Also does the 2-155 have the heavier over/under in it and how well did the fwd powertrain hold up?

The overunder should be the same.I have not heard or worked on the fwd problem. I do not have a parts book in front of me asI remimber they are the same.If you change oil and filter the overunder last but do not run low on oil.It will ruin the trans. I had some trans bolts shear on the careier.

There are a few things to look out for depending on what vintage 2-155 it is. The non series 3 had some parking pawl problems (mostly from improper operation), and White had update parts to fix it. It should have already had it done. Most 2-155's we sold were pushing 175-180 hp right from the factory after break in. I think only the very early 3-135's had the 4QT over under. If it's got the 30-3119475 (or whatever the new number is) filter on it it's the heavier O/U.
