I know that the 4-53 was put in but there is a dealer in Indiana that says they have a 1900 with a 4-71 in it and I want to know if anyone knows if Oliver did this on a few tractors or it is something that someone else did.

I saw that 1900 in Farm World. It looks nice and would be a good buy at $4800 even if it doesnt have the original 4-53 in it.

I wonder if the dealer can tell the difference between a 53 and a 71 series? I loved the sound of thise "two stroke jokes"!!!

All 1900 tractors from the factory had the 453 engines. Model "A' used a #5121 engine and "B" & "C" series had a #5221 engine.

What is the difference between these engines? Is it just RPMs, or is it two valve vs four valve heads, or is it injector size, or a combination of these?

4-53 is 212 cubic inches. 53 designates ci. displacment per clyinder. 4-71 has 71 ci. per cylinder. 4-53 makes around 115 hp at the flywheel. 4-71 makes around 140. Early engines had 2 exhaust valves per cylinder. Later engines had 4 exhaust valves per cylinder.

Thanks Dennis. I understand the difference between the 53s 71s 92s and 110s. I am sorry my question was not more clear. I wanted to know the differences between the 53 series that were used on the Olivers.

The 4-53 was the only engine from the factory that I have seen. I know of a 1950 with a v 6-53 in it, the twin exhaust stacks look pretty good. I have a friend who bought an old 4 cyl 99 gas that has a 4-71 in it looks almost factory. We pulled it a couple of times but couldn't hold the clutch.

Any chance you could put me in contact with your friend or help me out? I would like to get some pictures of his tractor.

Thank you,
A.P.
