why are some of the water jackets threaded? i assume they are for h2o cuz they are rusty. under the valve cover there are head bolts, when i take the head off there are threaded holes next to the threaded bolt hole for the head bolt. just curious. does a 33/4x41/2 bore and stroke get me 298 cubic inches? will the factory carb feed that ok? about how much hp will that put me at? thank you for your time.

Yes, you are at 298. Guessing, if you were to turn it to 2000 rpm it would require atleast 150 cfm carb. If your intake and head flowed what the motor wanted (providing the right cam) you may even get up to 200 cfm but not likley.
A 1.500 inch hole should flow 120 cfm.
A 1.750 is cabable of 180 but realisticaly with restictions and rough edges, 150 at 28 inches of W.C.

In the real world someone else might give you more accurate info but hope this helps.
