Saw recent thread discussing 1750 and 1755 differences. Are the difference between the 1650 and 1655 similar?

A little more info..... the later 1650s, like the 1655s, also had the direct injection and over/under hydraul shift. The 1650 was rated at 66 hp on the PTO, the 1655 @ 70 hp on the PTO.

I believe there was a post on this site a few weeks ago that discussed the differences . On the engine , the 1650 diesel had indirect injection (energy cells) while the 1655 had direct fuel injection . The front grille on a 1655 has lights while the 1650 does not . The 1655 had over/under(3 speeds in each transmission gear) shifter as an option just before the transmssion and I think the 1650 only had the hydradrive (2 speeds in each gear range ). I could be wrong on that . Fuel filters and engine oil filters on 1655 and 1650 were different. I also think the horse power on the 1655 was a little higher than the 1650 .

Sam,

I have to correct you on a couple of things. The late model 1650's also have direct injection heads and over/under hydraul shift (3-speed). The three speed tranny is lot nicer as you get six more forward speeds and two more reverse speeds. As far as the fuel filters, my 1655 D has the glass type fuel filter. I don't know if this is standard or not. All the 2-70 Whites had this type of filter. The 1650's I have seen have the old system with two filters.

Thanks for the corrections . I was going by the differences I have seen in a 1650 and a 1655 a friend of mine owns . His 1655 has the glass box filter like you describe while the 1650 has the two filter system with a string type element in the primary filter and a secondary can type filter near the injection pump . My 1855 also has the glass box filter on it like you describe . However , I have the original operators manual for this tractor (I bought the tractor from the original owner's son) and the original manual shows a different filter arrangement on the 1855 when the model first came out . Oliver must have gone to the glass box later in the 55 series .

No they are basicly the same with just some improved parts.One thing thats better is the restrictors in the hydrolic system.The engine has a differant head with new style injectors that stick down from the top.
