Hi folks. I have a 1550 with a bad engine and my neighbor has a 232 engine that is correct for my tractor. I was wondering what I should offer him for it. He says it runs and all it needs in a gasket package because thats all he has left to do on it. It is a gas. Also, what would a 232 diesel cost me? Any help will be appreciated:)

Hoss,
I would be interested in your old motor, cracked head and all. I have been looking for a while for one in junk condition that I can section. Please reply if interested.

My engine is totally shot. The head has some pretty nasty cracks in it. The last owner beat on it pretty good. Must have ran it low on coolant, because the bearings look like they got hot too, along with scored pistons. Thats why I am thinking of just dropping a whole "new" engine in it. Anyone know what I should offer for the "new" 232?

I tried to but a Super 77 engine a while back and was quoted $850.00 for one in running condition, but someone beat me to it. Not exactly the same as yours, but similar. I am still looking for a 77 super head in junk condition (1550-55 would be OK too)
