Well, after the first season of pull'in with what I refer to in joke as "Bambi's Nightmare" at home.A "77" that was saved from a junkyard, had a head reworked, fired up,to my dismay with a rod knock. After grinding down the rod cap,to close clearance. Running stock carb and intake and ran all season in s.eastern Mich. in #4000 & #4500,Div.1 & 2....5- 1st places,4- 2nd places(one by the wife in powder puff),1- 3rd place(in Div3),and a 4th running with a foul plug. I also ran a few #6000 farm 3 1/2mph for the heck of it and finished in the bottom against 65+ hp tractors. All in all I'm happy with what "Bambi" did with a 50 year old heart. To reward her, this winter she'll get 4" pistons, plus alot of other upgrades. Thanks to WFE,and all the others that added to the mix on making it be a great "Pulling Season".Next year I think she'll be able to wear the name that I'll add to new side shields prouldly "Bambi's Nightmare",Never Say Never,Dan

Dan, it sounds like you had pretty good luck his year. Where did you pull? Wondering if I have seen you at one or more of the pulls this year. I pulled at Leslie, MMTPA (Oakley several times), and the Fowlerville/Williamston/Wedderville group. I pull an 88 standard and would be happy with your record. As it is I'm considering overhauling my engine to get up to 65 hp.

Take care,
A.P.

I pulled around the thumb of Michigan,Peck,Marlette,Gooddells,Sandusky, others with the EMTPA(Eastern tractor pullers assn,),and a few TTPA pulls.Staying so I could run Div.1(no weight brackets),I had to live with using a belly bracket that could be slide in the holes in the frame, between rounds.Next year I'll run Div 2 & 3,that allow weight brackets and hang on weights. Also I'll lose my mech. lift and pully drive so I'll be able to balance weights better. In #4000 I had a hard time keeping from spinning out.I'll be looking at 282 c.i. at least when I'm done.It was alot of fun this season pulling with our new club.Anyone in s.e.Michigan that's thinking of pulling, look us up. We have Div.1 thru 5.This year about 30% of our pullers were first timers. Our club was founded by pullers for "ALL" pullers,We bought our own sled, and are a non-profit organization, that benefits 4H. Next year I have alot of Deere's I'll be gunning for,it should be fun. Here's a picture of "Bambi's first pull, before finish painting and no grill, after a allnighter of work to get her there(finished 6:00 in the morning, pulled at 12:00). For info. on the "EMTPA",check out www.pullsite.com,Hope to see you next year,A.P. ,Dan

Dan were you at the first pull at Memphis? You might try and find a 1550/770/Super 77 crank. It will have a bigger rod journal diameter than the 77 had (2.25 vs. 2.0). An offset gring job to the smaller journal will get you a 1/4" stroke (4.0"). The 1550 head also has a smaller combustion chamber for a little more compression.

Hope to see you pulling next summer.

A.P.

Tim, I am still looking. I emailed your contact but haven't heard back from him. It may have gotten lost in email space. Can you resend me the contact information? Use my email address from before or edit the one here at - @ and dot - . I have been busy trying to repair my 1600 so I can move snow. I keep running in circles trying to find a late 1600/1650 gas head. I had to return one that didn't pass a pressure test. Waiting to find the results of another now.

Take care,
A.P.

dan, I picked up a head at Tosch's and would up having to have it pressure tested. I had to return it as it was welded under an exhaust seat and a pin hole was left. I got my money back but lost the $60 for the pressure test. I may have a head lined up. Hope to find out today. Also looking for a hood for a Super 99 GM or six cylinder.

Of course when it rains it pours, my wifes car died last night and it looks like I will need to find her a new one this week. Last week it was my van but that's repaired now I hope.

Take care,
A.P.
