66 clutch shaft loose

On my '50 rc66, I noticed a vibration- the clutch shaft (or driveshaft) has a lot of play- up and down and in and out. It has about 1/8" to 3/16" play (horizontal) in the spline shaft- bolt is tight. It has about the same play at the rear of the shaft. This is my first Oliver, and would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I'm with you on that one. I have same on my 66. The shaft you see has coupler, BUT, there is a PTO shaft down middle of it, I guess. have to pull the pto apart, remove shaft first, them remove coupler and bellhousing and other great things. Book says to remove engine as unit to repair, otheres here say can do like I just said to repair. Mine, needs clutch too. There is a bushing on engine end and one in rear housing that can go bad. dismantling is the answer to repair!!! Dang tractors, so hard to work on for such simple repairs. Then, while it's apart, might as well do all the other hard to get stuff at same time! I'm leaving mine, till I HAVE to fix!
