550 Wiring, Guage question

Happy Thanksgiving - hope you all are with family today!
The wiring on my early 550 gas is a mess. It's been run 12 neg. for years and electrical tape is the only thing keeping the wiring together. I've changed over to an alternator and am making up a dandy wiring harness for the starting, charging and lights - don't see any troubles there. My concern is the guages, especially the cluster guage. I hear they need to be pos. ground. Anyone know if these can be wired for neg. ground or someone that might be experienced at rebuilding it to work with a negative ground system? Thanks folks.

My 550 is 12 volt negative ground and been that way since I got it about 5 years ago. Cluster gauges work fine.

Thanks - I didn't really think there was anything in there wouldn't work from reversing polarity. Just though I'd check as the darn electrical parts don't work well after you let the smoke out...

Before you go to far on your wiring harness check with Korves Oliver. They have a reproduction of the original harness. I have not put mine on yet but it looks like the original down to the protective cover.
