Hey Shep, when are you going to design and fab your own Cummings tub for the swaps? i figure you've collected most of the 1850 Perkins tubs in your area and are about to the point where you could fab your own cheaper!

Seriously, has anyone taken a look at fabbing tubs for these conversions? Or maybe a Duramax into a 1650/55? Now there would be a nice package - a 30+mph beast.

Oh I do fab up a few for the repowers. The 1655 I am working on now I cant swap an 1850 frame into, the 1655 is narrower, so I am modifying the existing frame to take the engine. I havent quite got all the bugs worked outta this conversion yet, but it will be interesting. I am having a hard time getting enough room in the 1655 frame for the 5.9L engine, I know there is not enough room for a Duramax.

I guess you want to try and design a tube frame for the Powerstroke or the Duramax to fit into a tractor, kinda like the tractor pullers do?? That would be wild huh??? Actually you could probably make that work in a 2255 tractor, they were designed for the V-8 Cat's so putting a V-8 Duramax in should fit. Have to find a place to mount your computer for the engine.....

I have learned that anything is possible given enough time, modification, money, and of course imagination.

Yes, I figured with all the cutting and fitting it might be easier to use the "factory" locations for steering and trans and then put whatever you want in the middle. Once you had the pedestal and the trans mountings set you could put anything you wanted in by changing the length and spacing. I've been thinking about a 2.8 Chevy in an Allis B (both laying around looking bored), and since the Allis doesn't use a tub, I would have to fab this type of rail. Of course, the Allis is a lot simpler than an Oliver.

Judging by the interest in your swaps this could be a profitable sideline! And imagine how much easier a "drop in" conversion would be for those of us who are mechanically challenged.
