I have an opportunity to buy a 1954 Cockshutt diesel super from a gentleman here in NJ. My question is, is his 5000. asking price about right or a little high, the tractor is in fairly good condition. Also, is there anything I should check out carefully that is specific to cockshutt tractors before I buy? This one has the Perkins 4 cyl engine, how did this engine compare to the earlier buda? Thanks in advance for any info...

The Perkins 4 is a little noisier and more vibration than the Buda. Those Buda 6 diesels were very smooth running but probably not as durable as the Perkins. $5000 sounds a little high unless it has been completely restored.
