WHAT DIRECTION SHOULD I GO TO LOOK FOR BIGGER VALVES AND HEAVER SPRINGS? I AM GOING TO GET SOME WORK DONEON THE HEAD AND WAS WOUNDERING HOW BIG I SHOULD GO WITH THE VALVES? OR AM I BETTER TO LOOK FOR A 770 OR 1550 HEAD? THANKSFOR ANY HELP. (GO PACK!!)

If you add S88 valves and plane alittle off the head you will have the same thing as a 1555.

On my 77,My machine shop was able to put in the largest valve that the stock head valve spacing would allow.The were S.S. small block chevy exhaust valves (I beleve a 1/4" longer)with the intake stock dia.Exhaust dia. ground down a little. The chamber had to be hogged open a little for clearance.they are bigger then the 88's.Then porting should be done.After the valves you'll need bigger intake(1550,or aftermarket 77),and bigger carb to use the flow the valves will give you.A 1/8" milled of the head will give you good compression increase.But you'll need higher octain fuel.good luck,Dan
