This is why I look at this board!

My brother-in-law has a 1650 gas that appears to have taken out the cam bearing. The dealer is quoting $1600 to repair, says he has to pull the motor. I suspect the block may need to be bored and bearings added. This tractor has no hydrapower, just the clutch.

I spotted a 1755 in the local yard, pretty complete. It has the hydraul shift on it. The post below indicates I cannot swap in the frame tub (Thanks for sparing me the agony).

But, can I swap in the complete unit? Can I use the PTO hub and clutch and housing from the 1650 on the 1755 and just bolt the rest up?

Barring that, will the Hydraulshift on the 1755 bolt to a 1650? Or an 1855 (I know where one of those is also).

The engine will bolt right in, holes in hood will not align. You will need to use 1650 or 1655 diesel flywheel, clutch, PTO hub and change the bellhousing, and input shaft of the over/under to 1650,55. You will also need to add the over/under oil cooler to the front of the radiator. My sugesstion, go get another 1650 because if you pay someone to do this, you will have spent more than enough to buy another.

The tractors are in the southern central Michigan area (Jackson). I live over by Port Huron

The 1855 is easier since the inputshaft is the same size. The swap into a 1655 is possible the motor will line up, but the shaft for the 1655 is 1.5 by 19 spline where the 1755 is 1.75 by 27 the rear cogs on the hydraul unit have to be changed as well, for all the naysayers put a 1955 in a 1655 not more than 5 months ago.
