After pulling engine, I noticed that the input shaft splines are wore approx. 50%, coupler appears to be fine. Are these available used? Can a guy be lucky and find a good used one? How big of a job is replacing? Thanks in advance.

Jim
This is a common problem with all of the 77's and 88's. We have run 88's with 1800 gas motors and have yet to twist this joint. All we have ever done is to try and match the best coupler that we could get and make sure that the correct bolt with the long dog point is used. There are variations of the coupler some with 1 clamp bolt and some with 2 clamp bolts, personally I like the 2 clamp bolts better. However, you are probably going to have more power than our old 1800 motors. Good Luck Rich

Thanks for the input... the coupler appears to be okay however the input shaft shows alot of wear. Like I said before I beleive the splines are worn about 50%. Sounds like I better replace the shaft.
