Almost got my corn off, but now tonight when I was backing up to the wagon with the chopper, I took it out of reverse and it just went into 4th. Tried shifting around, put it into 2nd, and she was in a bind because it was in 2 gears at once. Played around a little more, put shifter over by 4th, found that it went down some and then over a bit more, and everything popped back into place. Chopped 2 loads no problem after that. This is the second time it did this since it broke that same shifter fork and the local dealer put in a used one. Is it just a pin or what is loose? is it okay to use it as is for plowing, loading manure?

Your shift rails may be worn in the notches where the shifter moves, or the end of the shift lever may be worn. Put the tractor in nuetral and removwe the two bolts holding the lever don't let the springs fall into the trans. The shifting forks should not cause the problem you are talking about. Always use locktight on the threads of shifting forks.
