At the summer show in Iowa I saw a Super 55 with an ice cream machine on the 3 pt hitch. I was there with a friend and had planned to spend two days at the show, but he saw enough in one day so we didn't return for the second day (we were in his truck!). I didn't get a chance to study the ice cream machine. I would like to know more about it. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Thanks.

Thanks all--I would like to be able to e-mail the owner of the ICM. It would be great to be able to build a similar unit to display here in Ohio! Mike.

I know the person who owns the 550. He's a friend of our family. I will try to get his email address and you can ask him how he did it. Off hand I'm not sure what all he used to make the ice cream maker.

Mike and All: To view a photo of the "Ice Cream" machine, go to The Oliver Gang's web site: Link Click on the Photos icon, when that comes up, Choose "Album: 2002 HPOCA Summer Show in Cedar Falls, Iowa". You will see 21 pages of photos of tractors & equipment from the show. Choose page #9, when that comes up go three rows down, the R.H. photo is of the "Ice Cream" machine. If you click on the photo, it will enlarge. Credit goes to Chris Losey for creating the excellent web page for the Oliver Gang.

I added a video clip of the ice cream machine in action. It is only 7 seconds, but you should get the idea. I did a little updating, now justclick on 'Photos' and then in the search box type, ice cream and it will bring up links to the picture and the video clip.

Thank you BA Star for the compliment. (The Cockshutt lawn mower on page 8 of the same photo album belongs to BA Star. Or search for 125 cockshutt to find it easier.)

Pretty neat wasn't it. The Ice Cream maker (ICM) was on the back of a 550. He took the belt pulley mechanism and turned it 90 degrees down them put a V-belt pulley on it. The paddle in the ICM was held stationary while the drum and the ice were turned. The pulley on the bottom of the drum must have been 3 feet in diameter. I know that we have invited him to come to our show in Penfield, IL next year. We will be hosting the National Summer Show.
