Can you convert a 77 to an alternator in place of the generator, if so, what model alt do you need and is there an installation kit available

I don't know of a kit,But the easy way is to get a one wire alternator(GM style)My rebuilder will convert one for $20.00(check with a small rebuilder),making the brackets are easy.Check out the article on this website "Upgrading an Oliver Super 55 Electrical System" it should be close to the 77 hopes this helps,Dan

If you are after 12V you can also send your old generator to a shop and they can convert it to 12V for the pice of a rebuilt one.

If you want the alternator to get 12V to spin the starter faster find a 12V generator from a 770 or 880. It should bolt right up and still look pretty stock.
