Oliver 1550/1650??

I was looking at a 1550 today and could not see much difference between it and my 1650... What are the major difference between the two? are most parts interchangable?

The 1550 has the older smaller engine that has the oil squirted down into the rods.the 1650 has a fully preasureised crankshaft.The 1550 has the old style slideing gear transmission and the 1650 has a constant mesch transmission.The 1650's are much easyer shifting.

I allways thought they where differant,but never held them up to each other to find out.The 1650 has a larger 13" clutch too,but it bolts to the same holes as the 12".The pto's are differant too with the 1650 an oil clutch and the 1550 dry.The dry one is easyer to work on.

Thanks!! Larry, I found a 1550 Tricycle and no rear wheels pretty bad shape at a scrap yard, my 1650 has a broken bellhousing and I also need the P/S parts for a conversion. Scrap man wants $0.15/Lb So I am debating if I should by the whole machine ( I figure $700-$800 ) or just go in and get what I need
