What you need to get is the Operator's Manual for the 88. The best place to go through is the Floyd County Museum in Charles City, Iowa. I don't know the number off hand, but you can do a search on this site and find it. They charge around $20 for the manual, with a little more for postage. This manual will tell you all about fluid capacities, recommended weights for different temps, etc. I'd also recommend getting a parts manual if you are going to do any work yourself, as it gives a lot of good exploded views of parts and how it all fits together. The Floyd Museum would have that as well, and it's about $35-40. As for a wide front, I did the same for my 88 Row Crop which had come with a narrow front. Check this site (do a search for "wide front" etc.) and find out what will fit the 88, then run an ad in your local shopper or watch the ads. A wide front can be pretty heavy, depending upon the type, so it's best if you can buy it locally (expect to pay between $300-500, but may vary for your area depending upon how popular the Oliver dealer was). Once you have it, it's a pretty easy swap. Hope this helps.
